MAC SHORT COURSE VOLUME 44, “GEOLOGY OF GEM DEPOSITS, SECOND EDITION” – NOW AVAILABLE

Editor: Lee A. Groat

Volume 44, 2014

This brand new short course volume comprises 11 chapters over 405 pages with plenty of color illustrations and photos. Gem deposits are rare because in general the conditions that promote their formation are unusual and thus worthy of scientific study. Recently, modern geological and analytical techniques have been applied to gem occurrences worldwide, and our models and understanding of their formation are being radically altered. This volume looks at gemstones from a geological perspective and reviews our current understanding of diamond, ruby, sapphire, and emerald deposits, but also examines the lesser-known coloured gems. For more information check the table of content on our website. You may place your order online or fill-out our publication order form and fax or mail it to us with your payment. It will also be available for sales at the upcoming Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, February 13 to 16; the MAC booth #132G will be located in the Galeria area of the Tucson Convention Center. If you have already planned to be in Tucson, you may still register for the short course that will take place February 10 to 11 at the University of Arizona. Download the short course flyer for more info and register online.
