JSPS-DST Asian Academic Seminar 2013 Discrete Mathematics & its Applications Sunday November 3 - Sunday November 10, 2013
JSPS-DST Asian Academic Seminar provides young researchers of Asian countries (including Japan) opportunities to undergo intensive training in areas of the latest academic research. The aim is to contribute to the fostering of young researchers and to raise the standard of research in Asian countries. JSPS-DST Asian Academic Seminar 2013 "Discrete Mathematics & its Applications" will be held at the Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences, the University of Tokyo, 3-8-1, Komaba, Meguro-ku, Tokyo 153-8914, Japan, from Sunday November 3 to Sunday November 10, 2013, in collaboration with Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(JSPS), Department of Science and Technology, India (DST), Indian Statistical Institute and the University of Tokyo. The Leading Graduate Course for Frontiers of Mathematical Sciences and Physics at the University of Tokyo and the Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences of the University of Tokyo host this seminar. The topics of this seminar will cover wide aspects of recent advances in the theory of discrete mathematics as well as its applications. Lectures will be given by leading mathematicians in the related fields. In addition, there will be workshop sessions on several topics for presentation and discussion by young scientists. The participants lodge at APA Hotel <Shibuya-Dougenzakaue>, Maruyamacho 20-1, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0044, Japan, which is at 10 minutes walk from the conference site so that they can develope the idea without interruption during the seminar week. By the discussion during the seminar, the participants will find new directions of research based on common understanding of the object. About 50 young participants from Asian countries will be invited to this year seminar. JSPS (Japan Society for Promotion of Science) will support their staying expenses and their domestic travel. DST (Department of Science and Technology) of India will support the international travel for participants from India. We strongly encourage doctoral students and young researchers from Asian countries to participate in this seminar. |
